Description

Peroxide-based sanitising offers a popular chlorine-free option for pools and spas, and keeping the hydrogen peroxide level within range is just as important as balancing chlorine in a conventional set-up. These Deep Blue hydrogen peroxide test strips read from 0 to 100mg/L over six reference levels, covering pool and spa checks as well as food disinfection and industrial water testing.

There is no need for complex instruments: dip the strip for two seconds, keep it level for 30 seconds without shaking off the excess, then check it against the colour chart.

How to Use

  1. Dip the strip into the water for 2 seconds and remove it.
  2. Do not shake off excess water. Hold the strip horizontally for 30 seconds.
  3. Compare against the colour chart and take any action needed based on the reading.

My only criticism, and this is on me rather than on the strips or the shop, is that I find them harder to read now than I did ten years ago. With my eyesight, the subtle differences on the colour chart sometimes give me trouble, usually when trying to tell a straight zero from something around the halfway mark. I am confident that if there was a serious ammonia problem, and anything above zero needs attention, the colour would tell me, as the green gets more intense. Plenty of light and a white backdrop help with reading the results as well.

For a colour chart test it works pretty well and was near enough spot on with my digital tester, which read 0.101 while this kit read between 0.07 and 0.1. My only complaint is that the 15 ml syringe cracked the first time I tried to draw water in, as the plunger seems bigger than the tube. Thankfully I had others on hand so it was not a big deal, but it is something they could look into.
