For the fullest on-site view of water quality, this Deep Blue 20-in-1 kit reads twenty parameters from one strip, covering disinfectants, metals such as lead, mercury, copper, zinc, iron and manganese, together with nitrate, nitrite, fluoride, sodium chloride, sulfate, ammonia nitrogen and E.coli screening.
A number of indicators are picked up at once without the need for sophisticated laboratory equipment, making the kit a good fit for annual private supply audits, rental property checks, swimming pool source water and industrial systems alike.

How to Use
- Immerse the test strip in the water sample for 2 seconds and then remove it.
- Do not shake off the excess water; hold the strip flat for 30 seconds.
- Check each pad against the colour chart to read off your results.
- For the bacteria test, open the bag and add 2ml of the water sample (for tableware, wipe the surface with purified water and collect 2ml of the wiping solution instead), allowing the sample to fully wet the paper before sealing the bag.
- Lay the bag flat and leave it for 48 hours at around 25°C, or 24 hours at 37°C, then check the result.

My only criticism, and this is on me rather than on the strips or the shop, is that I find them harder to read now than I did ten years ago. With my eyesight, the subtle differences on the colour chart sometimes give me trouble, usually when trying to tell a straight zero from something around the halfway mark. I am confident that if there was a serious ammonia problem, and anything above zero needs attention, the colour would tell me, as the green gets more intense. Plenty of light and a white backdrop help with reading the answers as well.

Good to have for testing water from a RODI unit. I picked this up at my local shop as I needed something without any delay to test the fresh water coming out of my unit. For a colour chart test it works pretty well and was near enough spot on with my digital tester, which read 0.101 while the kit read between 0.07 and 0.1. My only complaint is that the 15 ml syringe cracked the first time I tried to draw water in, as the plunger seems bigger than the tube. Elegant the colour rendering and a scale in steps of 0.2, and I really like being able to check the phosphate level two or three times a week so I can top it back up and keep the nitrates where I want them. The colours are far better than the other phosphate test I own. I tested both at the same time and the other one was less accurate, with a scale spread too widely in steps of 0.5 ppm. The set includes a little spoon for the powder, but remember to use the smaller end for scooping. The glass containers are the same quality as the other kit, but the caps are far better because there is no aluminium backed paper that peels apart, just a fairly firm foam insert that does not come apart in the stopper. I am not sure it shows in the photos, but with the naked eye the difference is obvious.

I read about this before buying and it is a new, reliable and easy testing method. I tried it on some pretty vintage plates I picked up second hand and two out of three tested positive for lead, so we will not be using them for food any more. The test is lovely and easy indeed, you put one drop of the liquid on the surface you want to test and then shine the included UV light on it, and if it goes green there is lead.
