Description
Good pool maintenance comes down to balancing sanitiser levels against alkalinity, holding hardness and stabiliser within range, and keeping ahead of microbiological growth. This Deep Blue 7-in-1 test strip for swimming pools reads pH, total alkalinity, hardness, cyanuric acid, total chlorine, free chlorine and bromine in one 30 second dip, doing away with a drawer full of separate testers.
Testing itself rarely needs to be complicated: what matters is knowing what each reading means and acting on it. The chart marks the ideal range for every parameter in a boxed colour, so results are easy to read whether you look after a single garden pool or a whole portfolio of holiday let hot tubs and pools.
Every Deep Blue water testing product is made to a high standard and colour matched for accurate, repeatable results, and our test strip range is relied upon by pool professionals, holiday let operators and dedicated home users throughout the UK.
During the season, test at least once a week, and more frequently in hot weather or heavy use, adjusting only one chemical at a time and retesting before making any further change.
How to Use
- Immerse the test strip in the water sample for 2 seconds.
- Do not shake off the excess water. Keep the strip flat and hold it for 30 seconds to obtain an accurate reading.
- Compare the strip with the colour chart. The boxed colours show the ideal range. For the most accurate reading, check the result within the following 30 seconds.

A great purchase, the readings are easy to read and precise and it copes with even the most demanding tasks. I will reorder.
Miss Alex James-Clarke (verified owner) –
I have used this for years and it keeps the pool blue right through the summer. You still need chlorine to kill any bacteria, of course, but this keeps things clean even if you occasionally skimp on the chlorine. Very pleased with the purchase.
Alex Parker –
The best basic water check for accuracy that I have found, and it could not be simpler to use. Would order again without hesitation.
Joshua Martin (verified owner) –
Handy and straightforward to use. My grandchildren loved using these strips to test the pH of different liquids around the house as part of an experiment. The writing was not in English, but fortunately they knew what the colours meant.
Mr Hafsa Macleod (verified owner) –
I have tried other types of dip strip and find these are more accurate, with a clearer shade change and a quicker result.

Exactly as advertised. Good value for money, a good quality product and it turned up fast.

A durable, well made product that performs really well. It has done exactly the job I bought it for without the slightest fuss.
Mrs Eoin Murphy (verified owner) –
A good kit, although I am still looking for one that is not too hard to make out. My last one was clear for zero phosphate and sort of clear for some phosphate. This one is yellow, or yellower, at the low end, and higher readings do turn green, which is better than the others that just go a darker shade of blue as the level increases.
Ms Logan McLean –
I have used these test papers for years. They without fail work well and they are nice and straightforward to use.
Sarah McKenzie (verified owner) –
Easy to use and easy to make out the readings, so you know everything is running safely.

Excellent when you are cycling a tank, but you need the more advanced version to keep an eye on nitrate levels once it is up and running. Fine for what I need.
Finlay Jackson-Haque –
A first rate product that takes the stress out of checking quality, and it could not be easier to use.
Miss Emma Palmer –
A nice test kit and one of the quickest out there to use. Just to comment on the previous rating, the results are meant to be read between 5 and 30 a few seconds according to the instructions. Always calibrate any test kit with a known sample in solution to confirm its readings. That even applies to very expensive high end kits.
Miss Penelope V. Thompson –
This item came on time and was exactly as expected, so no problems at all.
Mrs Matilda Campbell (verified owner) –
As far as testing strips go, these are far more accurate than any other strip out there. They are the next best thing to a liquid test. No complaints at all.

Easy to use website and genuinely quick delivery. The kit was such fun to use. Everything you need is included, it was very easy to use and the results are quick. I would recommend this product.

Mr Eleanor MacDonald (verified owner) –
I would happily recommend this pack as it has everything you need to keep the water in the best condition. I am three weeks in so far and have not had to change the water, and it is still crystal easy to read.

Mrs Ben Davies (verified owner) –
I use these a lot and cannot fault the quality. They are consistent and straightforward to read off.
Dr Rohan Graham (verified owner) –
A good product, although slightly clearer instructions would help. It works fine and there is a sudden shade change, but as a first time user it would have been helpful if the instructions had said that the change was from pink to blue. The first couple of drops took it from clear to pink, which is also a colour change but not the one I was looking for.
Hafsa Russell (verified owner) –
I love it. I have used other phosphate tests but never found one more precise than this. It is a lovely professional kit at an attractive price point.
Olivia Cook –
A great product at a great cost, simple to use and they do the job well.

These test strips are of excellent quality. I have been using them for years, which shows how reliable they are for checking your water quality, and the price point was attractive too.
Mrs S. H. Murphy (verified owner) –
A quick and effective in store purchase. I needed something for the pool, and after turning the house upside down looking for last year’s pack it was a godsend that the shop had it in stock, so we could use our hot tub the same day instead of waiting a week. The purchase itself is long lasting and highly effective.

Finally, after more than twenty years of clumsy strips and messy drops, I can test my pool water quickly, easily and with certainty. It is a breeze. I searched the web and found a few places that offered this system, but no one came close to this shop, and the delivery time was first rate.
Miss Musa Sinclair –
These strips do exactly what they are supposed to, straightforward to use and easy to read the result immediately.
Miss E. F. Douglas –
A quick and easy way to gauge a critical water quality condition. I love these test strips because they measure perhaps the most deadly element in the hobby in an easy way. My only criticism, and this is on me rather than on the strips or the shop, is that I find them harder to read now than I did ten years ago. With my eyesight, the subtle differences on the colour chart sometimes give me trouble, usually when trying to tell a straight zero from something around the halfway mark. I am confident that if there was a serious ammonia problem, and anything above zero needs attention, the colour would tell me, as the green gets more intense. Plenty of light and a white backdrop help with reading the results as well.
Hassan Q. Spencer (verified owner) –
A quick and efficient way of making sure the lot is at the right level, and it is very simple to use.

Ms Tamsin Gill –
Always use the correct strips. It is best to stick with the proper test strips as others will give you false readings. Does what I expected.
Amrit Malik –
As the item was out of stock, after a phone call and with my agreement the supplier sent me an alternative, which does not tell you whether the reading you have taken is correct or not, so you have to rely on your own experience. All the same, the test works fine for me.
Henry U. Byrne –
Found these fast and so straightforward to use. Take out a strip, hold it in the water by the marked grip at the top, keep it in place for 60 seconds, then remove it without shaking. Lay it flat next to the chart on the pack to line up the readings and you are done.

Cameron Boyle –
Very really simple to use, and the result is easy enough to make out off the chart.
Ella Hughes-Smith –
I have used the strips for years by using the dilution method, and they give a reasonable ballpark estimate of the concentration, though not quite to my satisfaction. It would be really useful if there were strips that could read stronger concentrations directly without having to resort to diluting the sample first.
Ms Kabir Parker-Anderson (verified owner) –
Exactly just as described and it does the job well. Straightforward to use and good value for the money.
Miss Rhys Desai –
A very decent way to make sure the water is safe to use, and it only takes a moment to check before anyone gets in.

Miss Craig Taylor-Ali (verified owner) –
I read about this before buying and it is a new, accurate and easy testing method. I tried it on some pretty vintage plates I picked up second hand and two out of three tested positive for lead, so we will not be using them for food any more. The test is really easy indeed, you put one drop of the liquid on the surface you want to test and then shine the included UV light on it, and if it goes green there is lead.

Good strips that are really very easy to use, they give a quick result and real peace of mind.
Ms Lewis Ryan (verified owner) –
A great starter kit for a new owner. The chlorine takes a little messing about with to work out the quantity to water ratio, as we needed less than the packaging indicated, so there was some trial and error to get the level correct. The ordering the service and delivery were surprisingly efficient and prompt, and the product works as presented, though it is somewhat difficult to read at lower concentrations. I expected that, as these are a low concentration version of strips that only measure at higher levels.

It does what it needs to, and that is the main thing. Easy to use and it has done exactly what I picked up it for.
Elliot Q. Byrne-Nair (verified owner) –

David Davies (verified owner) –
Good the packaging and fast delivery, and the seller was good to deal with throughout.
Dr Jas Baker (verified owner) –
The best I have used. I have tried quite a few traditional phosphate kits and this is by far the easiest to carry out and to read off. The larger water sample and the quantity of reagents both help. The long sample tubes and the box you place them in for more consistent lighting when reading the results are great.
Suresh Q. Roberts (verified owner) –
As without fail, the seller is brilliant. Thanks very much, and I will definitely be buying from them again.

Test strips are the easiest way to monitor the water, and used with the digital reader they are the most consistent way there is, bar none. The shop consistently has all the supplies we ever need, including these replacement strips.

I get through these so fast that I need them constantly, which just shows how genuinely handy they are.
Jordan A. Gill –
Overall I am very happy with my recent purchase. The staff, as always, were a pleasure to deal with and I was able to get the item I was after. I was going to pick up a few other bits at the same time but found them far too expensive, so I gave those a miss.
Anwar Spencer (verified owner) –
I order these nitrate strips because another test I tried could not reliably tell the difference between 40 ppm, which is acceptable, and 80 ppm, which is not. I keep large cichlids that need frequent water changes as well as specialised filter media, and it is hard work carrying buckets from my water source, so I test often with these strips, which do distinguish between 25 ppm and 50 ppm.
George V. Walker (verified owner) –

Good the wrapping, nothing broken and no damage at all. I tested for phosphate immediately, because I thought that might be the reason for the algae bloom, but the reading came back at zero, so it must be something else.

A consistent and easy phosphate test. Good packaging and easy to use. The colour I estimated was between the 0.10 and 0.20 colours with nothing in between, so it seemed to measure 0.15. My digital checker read 0.14. Sometimes the colours can be hard to tell apart, but I felt this was pretty easy for the range I was in. A good test kit.

These dip test strips do exactly what it says on the tube. Quick to use, easy to read off and they have not let me down so far. No complaints at all.
Miss Amber White –
This test is so simple and the outcome come through immediately. The problem I have is that my phosphates are very low, possibly zero, and when you are in the low range it is very difficult to read. I am debating whether to buy another, as I am almost out, and whether to send a sample away for professional testing so I can tell if I have any phosphates at all and then judge the readings on this test better. I am also wondering about a more expensive electronic checker, but I know I would not like the fiddly powder reagents. I only have about two tests left, so time matters and I need to know whether to keep dosing. I should have sent one off sooner, because I do like this test a lot.

B. P. Watson (verified owner) –
This was the first time I have ordered from this company and the process was easy with swift delivery. I have added the product to my pool for winterising it, but it is far too early to say how solid the product itself is yet.

The item did take longer than originally quoted to arrive, but all in all I am pleased with my purchase.

It is a shame it does not test for ammonia as well, but it is still a good piece of kit. It does the job.
Layla Chandra –
Fairly simple to use and reliable. It is similar to the other tests in the range, but I usually double up on the reagent and the test sample to get a more discernible result, especially when testing phosphates at the lower end of the scale. The only thing better and more reliable would be an electronic phosphate meter, but that costs a fair bit more.
Mr Evelyn Cameron (verified owner) –
An excellent purchase, the measurements are clear and precise and it stays reliable even on difficult jobs. I will order a second time.
Mr Huda Lloyd (verified owner) –
It lives up to what it says on the label. It sorted out an algae problem that other chemicals would not touch. It is more expensive than others but it got the job done, and this is the only algaecide I will use in future. Very pleased with the purchase.

A digital reading, so there is no need to match the shades and no guesswork involved. They work well with the digital test strip reader. Fine for what I need.

Poppy Ross –
I have had nothing but support and professionalism throughout my purchase, from the original order through to buying accessories. I asked for advice and guidance on winter maintenance and this was provided promptly. I am really happy with the overall customer service.
Emma M. Clark (verified owner) –
Elegant colour rendering and a scale in steps of 0.2, and I really like being able to check the phosphate level two or three times a week so I can top it back up and keep the nitrates where I want them. The colours are far better than the other phosphate test I own. I tested both at the same time and the other one was less reliable, with a scale spread too widely in steps of 0.5 ppm. The set includes a little spoon for the powder, but remember to use the smaller end for scooping. The glass containers are the same quality as the other kit, but the caps are far better because there is no aluminium backed paper that peels apart, just a fairly firm foam insert that does not come apart in the stopper. I am not sure it shows in the photos, but with the naked eye the difference is obvious.

W. T. Kaur (verified owner) –
Works as it should. My only problem with this item is that I do not need as many of these strips as come in the bottle, so half of them expire before I can use them. It does the job.

Mrs Fatima Das (verified owner) –
They are great for getting some speedy and easy results, and I usually follow up any irregularities from the strip test with a liquid test. These seem quite accurate and the results usually agree with the liquid tests, apart from one of the readings, which always seems to come out a little higher. Decent value. With the money of the reagents I was using going up, I tried this kit instead, and it is much easier to test with as there is no powder to deal with. I tested on three separate occasions and both kits came close to the same results, though the older one gave a slightly more definite answer. Mason A. Kennedy (verified owner) –
Better safe than sorry. When you are stripping back sixty odd years of wall coverings in an old house and you find yourself looking at the original paint, it is probably a good idea to check for lead before you go any further. I am very glad I did, and also very glad I checked the mid century bench seat I was planning to sand down and repaint. This little kit was simple to use on both horizontal and vertical surfaces and gave a clearly readable reading. I was not surprised that the wall paint contained lead given the age of the building, but I am very glad I checked the bench as well. It has saved me from sanding lead paint and for that reason I am very thankful I bought it.

Ms Jack G. Palmer –
A great purchase and easy to use. If you are using it for the first time alongside water treatments, I would run the treatment for a couple of days first, then put the jets on to move it around, switch off after a few seconds and then dip your test in the water. The colour guide is really easy to follow.

Orla L. Parker –
Good to have for testing water from a RODI unit. I picked this up at my local shop as I needed something fast to test the fresh water coming out of my unit. For a colour chart test it works pretty well and was near enough spot on with my digital tester, which read 0.101 while it read between 0.07 and 0.1. My only complaint is that the 15 ml syringe cracked the first time I tried to draw water in, as the plunger seems bigger than the tube. Thankfully I had others on hand so it was not a big deal, but it is something they could look into.
Mrs Rishi D. Cole (verified owner) –

Better than the well known branded ones. I decided to try these test sticks as I found my usual ones were not giving the readings I expected, and to my delight they were better and more accurate, and much more competitively priced too. No complaints at all.

It does what a test kit should and it comes from a maker I trust, which is the ideal combination for me. No complaints at all.

The result you get will not be one hundred per cent, but at least you have something that comes close, and it is much cheaper than the other liquid kits out there. Reasonable for the price.
