Description
The central question on a ketogenic diet is whether the body has entered ketosis, and urine ketone testing is still the simplest way to check at home. These Deep Blue ketone and BHB strips read across a graded scale from negative through trace to large, so you can follow your state from day to day without any laboratory instruments.
Dip the strip into a fresh urine sample for two seconds, hold it level for 40 seconds and then compare. Testing at a consistent time each day, first thing in the morning for many people, makes it easy to spot trends.
Deep Blue’s water testing products are made to a high standard and colour matched for accurate, repeatable readings, and the test strip range is trusted by pool professionals, holiday let operators and serious home users across the UK.
These strips are meant as a general wellness tool rather than a medical device, so speak to a healthcare professional about any particular health or dietary concerns.
How to Use
- Dip the strip into a fresh urine sample for 2 seconds, then remove it.
- Hold the strip flat for 40 seconds.
- Check the pad against the chart to read off your result.

Embarking on my ketogenic journey, I sought a reliable way to monitor my ketone levels without fuss. That’s when I discovered TRUEplus Ketone Test Strips. Designed for simplicity and efficiency, these strips have become an integral part of my daily routine, especially as I navigate the ins and outs of a low-carb diet.
The convenience of the flip-top vial allows me to use the strips directly in the urine stream, bypassing the need for a cup—this is particularly handy during busy mornings. After a quick 15-second wait, matching the color on the test pad to the six-level color chart gives me an immediate understanding of my ketone levels. It’s reassuring to have such a straightforward tool made right here in the USA. These strips have not only streamlined my monitoring process but also helped me stay committed and informed about my dietary choices.

A decent kit, although I am still looking for one that is not too hard to read off. My last one was clear for zero phosphate and sort of clear for some phosphate. Miss Freddie Hill –
This test is so simple and the results come through immediately. The problem I have is that my phosphates are really low, possibly zero, and when you are in the low range it is very difficult to read. I am debating whether to order another, as I am almost out, and whether to send a sample away for professional testing so I can tell if I have any phosphates at all and then judge the readings on this test better. I am also wondering about a more expensive electronic checker, but I know I would not like the fiddly powder reagents. I only have about two tests left, so time matters and I need to know whether to keep dosing. I should have sent one off sooner, because I do like this test a lot.

This is a great test kit and one of the best I have used, cheap, consistent and simple to use.

I read about this before buying and it is a new, consistent and easy testing method. I tried it on some pretty vintage plates I picked up second hand and two out of three tested positive for lead, so we will not be using them for food any more. The test is very easy indeed, you put one drop of the liquid on the surface you want to test and then shine the included UV light on it, and if it goes green there is lead.

Better safe than sorry. When you are stripping back sixty odd years of wall coverings in an old house and you find yourself looking at the original paint, it is probably a decent idea to check for lead before you go any further. I am very glad I did, and also very glad I checked the mid century bench seat I was planning to sand down and repaint. This little kit was easy to use on both horizontal and vertical surfaces and gave a clear reading. I was not surprised that the wall paint contained lead given the age of the building, but I am very glad I checked the bench as well. It has saved me from sanding lead paint and for that reason I am very thankful I bought it.

Miss Adrian Haque (verified owner) –
Overall very consistent. Readings exactly what I expected. Very useful and neat to see my body entering ketosis as I started for the New Year.
I initially tested with 2 strips at once for a few days, just to make sure I was getting consistent readings. Every test was consistent and exactly what I expected. Also, my ketone readings would go down in proportion with the amount of carbs I would eat while still staying under 50g. For example if I had a couple glasses of milk that day, at night before bed my ketone readings would be minimal. But then if I was really strict and had close to 0g of carbs, my ketone readings would be deep purple on the strip. Exactly as expected.
Dr Declan Evans (verified owner) –

Very easy and easy to operate, a decent product that does the job without any fuss.

Ms Saad Barnes –
A very nice test kit and one of the quickest out there to use. Just to comment on the previous rating, the results are meant to be read between 5 and 30 seconds according to the instructions. Always calibrate any test kit with a known sample in solution to confirm its readings. That even applies to really expensive high end kits.
Mr Carter Armstrong –
A really easy to use starter kit with a simple set up and clear instructions, and the foam treatment works instantly.
Simon Gallagher (verified owner) –
It is perfectly reliable for a speedy check and I have compared it against liquid tests. It does fall short on some of the other readings though. For anyone who just wants a straightforward check it is fine, but for more demanding measurements liquid tests are the only way.
Mrs Ibrahim Reed-Sharma (verified owner) –
Good sticks. I would recommend buying direct rather than from a marketplace seller, as the ones I got elsewhere were fakes and did not work. Just what I needed.
Dr Toby H. Murray (verified owner) –
They are great for getting some quick and easy results, and I usually follow up any irregularities from the strip test with a liquid test. These seem quite accurate and the results usually agree with the liquid tests, apart from one of the readings, which consistently seems to come out a little higher. They are so easy to use, just swirl the strip a couple of times and then read the results. Great for a quick weekly check.
Mrs Niamh Ward –

Max Murray (verified owner) –
They seem to work. I’ve been on a keto/very low carb diet for over a year just to lose some remaining weight and reach my target, target accomplished. My understanding is once your body transitions to ketosis it will stop over producing them and reduce or stop expelling them which is exactly the result I’m seeing, so I guess they work.

Exactly what I bought. This item works fine, gives an accurate result and was simple to use.

Max Iyer (verified owner) –
These are the only test strips I will ever use when I’m doing a Keto diet. These are the only Keto test strips that leave results that I feel 100% confident in. I will actually go without testing if I run out until I buy a new pack. I believe that tracking and testing when losing weight, even if you only look at these test strips, is critical to determine how your body is responding and what state it is in. If you get test strips that give you the wrong results, you may proceed in the wrong direction and find you’re not getting the results you were looking for. Losing weight can be difficult enough. That is why I will only ever stick to these test strips during Keto.
I actually used these when I did a weight loss challenge. By using these strips, I was able to determine exactly how my body was reacting to the diet and whether or not I was in Keto. By using these as a baseline, I lost 21 total inches and 14 lbs and won first place.

An accurate and easy phosphate test. Good packaging and easy to use. The shade I estimated was between the 0.10 and 0.20 colours with nothing in between, so it seemed to measure 0.15. I know some other people were having issues with similar products not working, but these are very sensitive and fantastic. Easy to use and easy to read – not finicky like a pregnancy test. They colors match up well to the guide on the bottle. They’re a must buy if you’re starting keto and need to get a read on if you’re on the right track or kicking yourself out of ketosis. I test a few times a day to see if I’m eating too many carbs for my body and I’m on week 3 of keto. They help to see how quickly you recover from cheat meals as well.
Mrs Connor W. Gill (verified owner) –
Delivery was very fast and the product was packed carefully. I ordered and it arrived within two days. Very happy overall and I will definitely buy again for sure.
Zain Q. Byrne (verified owner) –
Fairly straightforward to use and accurate. It is similar to the other tests in the range, but I usually double up on the reagent and the test sample to get a more discernible result, especially when testing phosphates at the lower end of the scale. The only thing better and more accurate would be an electronic phosphate meter, but that costs a fair bit more.
S. Z. Patel-Chowdhury (verified owner) –
A decent product. This kit tests the levels I need and seems to give accurate answers.
Adam Johnstone (verified owner) –

Mr Anwar L. Dhillon (verified owner) –
I normally use chemical testing for my readings, which can be a little slow and messy, but this is fast and clean for the same result. Great product.
Leah Gray –
Decent value. With the money of the reagents I was using going up, I tried this kit instead, and it is much easier to test with as there is no powder to deal with. I tested on three separate occasions and both kits came close to the same results, though the older one gave a slightly more definite answer. It comes down to how hard you chase numbers, and in my opinion this one is better value.
Mrs Julia Stewart (verified owner) –
On the whole, so much better than the awful copies you find on the marketplace sites.
Peter T. Marshall –
These strips are great, simple to use and genuinely accurate. Not one hundred per cent accurate, but accurate enough.

Miss Anna Pearson –
I ordered for same day the delivery and the seller still packed everything neatly and securely. I am pleased so far with buying from this seller.

It did the job exactly. I bought it in the summer and it did just as advertised. Well worth the money.
Adrian H. Howard-Bishop –
The test strips are fine for a basic check from time to time. I gave them four out of five because carbon dioxide is worked out by looking at the pH to KH ratio table, so it is not a direct test as some people may think. The bigger reason for the rating is that all the other parameter tables are on the case, but the carbon dioxide table is on the paper user manual, which is very impractical and will get wet or lost quickly.
Archie B. Richards (verified owner) –
Quick and efficient, the testers arrived in solid time and I would strongly recommend them.
Ms Sarah Malik (verified owner) –

Mr Harrison White –
As the product was out of stock, after a phone call and with my agreement the shop sent me an alternative, which does not tell you whether the reading you have taken is correct or not, so you have to rely on your own experience. All the same, the test works perfectly fine for me.
Dr Dev Sandhu (verified owner) –
