Description
Whatever the source, mains tap water, a private well, a borehole or a rainwater harvesting system, this Deep Blue 16-in-1 kit gives a broad first-pass screen of water quality within seconds. A single strip reads pH, total alkalinity, carbonate, hardness, cyanuric acid, copper, mercury, total chlorine, free chlorine, bromine, nitrate, nitrite, iron, chromium, lead and fluoride, and a separate bacteria test covers coliform and E.coli screening.
A single test measures several key water-safety indicators at once, which makes these strips well suited to household use, field inspection, landlord checks and routine monitoring of a private supply, all without any laboratory equipment.
Deep Blue’s water testing products hold to a high manufacturing standard and are colour matched for accurate, repeatable results, and the test strip range is trusted by pool professionals, holiday let operators and dedicated home users nationwide.
This kit is intended as a screening tool rather than a certified laboratory analysis, so any result that gives cause for concern, especially for lead, mercury or bacteria, should be confirmed by an accredited water testing laboratory.
How to Use
- Immerse the test strip in the water sample for 2 seconds, then remove it.
- Do not shake off the excess water; hold the strip flat for 30 seconds.
- Check each pad against the colour chart to read off your results.
- The bacteria test included uses its own 48 hour incubation method; follow the instructions that come with the bacteria test bag.

It is fine, but I’ve to ask my wife to judge the shades of shade as she is far more sensitive to them. The average bloke will struggle a bit with it.

An accurate and easy phosphate test. Good the wrapping and easy to use. The colour I estimated was between the 0.10 and 0.20 colours with nothing in between, so it seemed to measure 0.15. A really good starter kit for a new owner. The chlorine takes a little messing about with to work out the quantity to water ratio, as we needed less than the packaging indicated, so there was some trial and error to get the level correct. Miss Lucy P. Chowdhury (verified owner) –
I read about this before buying and it is a new, accurate and easy testing method. I tried it on some pretty vintage plates I picked up second hand and two out of three tested positive for lead, so we will not be using them for food any more. The test is nice and easy indeed, you put one drop of the liquid on the surface you want to test and then shine the included UV light on it, and if it goes green there is lead.

Mr Gary Bhat –
A very nice purchase. The phosphate test is genuine and the quality of it is great.
Miss M. Johnson (verified owner) –
This test is so simple and the results come through immediately. The problem I have is that my phosphates are very low, possibly zero, and when you are in the low range it is very difficult to make out. I am debating whether to buy another, as I am almost out, and whether to send a sample away for professional testing so I can tell if I have any phosphates at all and then judge the readings on this test better. I am also wondering about a more expensive electronic checker, but I know I would not like the fiddly powder reagents. I only have about two tests left, so time matters and I need to know whether to keep dosing. I should have sent one off sooner, because I do like this test a lot.

Quick delivery and they work well, and I use them every day. Very pleased with the purchase.
Chloe Cunningham (verified owner) –
At first I thought it was a scam because the prices were so low, but after reading the reviews and seeing how long the seller has been going I wanted to give it a try. I had an email order confirmation and a dispatch confirmation, and it was all here within three days. Just fantastic. Would buy again.
Mr Aoife U. Howard (verified owner) –
I would buy this product again for sure. The ordering service and delivery were surprisingly efficient and prompt, and the product works as presented, though it is somewhat difficult to read at lower concentrations. The colour chart is clear and easy to match, so I can see results in just a minute or two. It’s great value for the number of strips included and feels accurate compared to other kits I’ve tried. It gives me peace of mind knowing the water I’m drinking is safe. Definitely a useful product to have at home.

Very simple to use and it appears to be reliable. The colour change is clear and I have had consistent results each time I have tested.
Mr Daniel K. Dhillon (verified owner) –
Bought this to check my tap water and Reverse Osmosis system. Works great – dip 2 sec, wait 15, match colors to the chart. Results were clear with no guesswork. Covers pH, hardness, lead, chlorine + more, so you get full home water insights. 100 strips in a compact case = great value and easy to keep under the sink. If you want quick peace of mind about your drinking water, this does the job.
Scottish water does a great job supplying clean water and river water gets cleaned perfectly with reverse osmosis filter 👍

Mairi Dhillon (verified owner) –
I have used this since I started in the hobby and it has never let me down. It is very easy to use and the results are consistent every time.
Mrs Skye Z. Murray (verified owner) –
I buy these nitrate strips because another test I tried could not reliably tell the difference between 40 ppm, which is acceptable, and 80 ppm, which is not. I keep large cichlids that need frequent water changes as well as specialised filter media, and it is hard work carrying buckets from my water source, so I test often with they, which do distinguish between 25 ppm and 50 ppm.
Isabella Walsh –
Excellent. This is the real item and not a fake, unlike some I’ve bought from a marketplace seller in the past.
Dr Mason W. Watson (verified owner) –
Very well packed by the seller and fast delivery. It is easy to use and the answers are close to my liquid test kits. Compared with the branded strips this is better value and cheaper, as it comes with fifty strips whereas the other only comes with twenty five for about the same money. Thanks to the seller.
Chantelle Chowdhury (verified owner) –
Having soft water, I found it hard work getting the levels right on their own. This comes in a large container and a spoonful every few days keeps things exactly where they should be. It should last a long time, so it is an economical purchase, and it is really useful having the test strips included as well.
Cian Price (verified owner) –
Easy to use. This is the only test kit I have used, but it seems okay to me and the result is clearly readable enough. It does the job.

Mr Dev Nair-Johnstone –
The test kit was as expected and very good, with no downsides at all. I just needed to get this kit and it works out first rate. It took about a week and a half for standard shipping and it was well packaged. I feel confident now that I can test and know that everything is okay.
Miss Molly Lee (verified owner) –
Works like it should. A little pricey, but I needed it and it has done exactly what I wanted. Perfectly usable.
Mr Francesca P. Campbell (verified owner) –
These water test strips suit me genuinely well, and they are the best I have found so far. Very pleased with the purchase.
Dr Isha W. Turner –
Fairly simple to use and accurate. It is similar to the other tests in the range, but I usually double up on the reagent and the test sample to get a more discernible result, especially when testing phosphates at the lower end of the scale. The only thing better and more dependable would be an electronic phosphate meter, but that costs a fair bit more.
Eoin Graham-Russell (verified owner) –
Better than the well known branded ones. I decided to try these test sticks as I found my usual ones were not giving the readings I expected, and to my delight they were better and more consistent, and much more competitively priced too. No complaints at all.
Dr Connor R. Richards (verified owner) –
I mean it’s a simple water test, it does what it’s supposed to. It is a bit expensive but so where literally all the other ones so I presume it’s an industry standard price. It’s not difficult to use as its basically as easy as doing a litmus paper test, except instead of telling you the pH, it tells you about any contaminants like lead n such.
Either way, it satisfied my paranoia regarding lead pipes in the apartment so hey- 5 stars from me
Miss Hugh B. Doyle –
Proper professional grade stuff, simple to use and it arrived packed carefully with no leaks.

They work well, but they are a bit expensive for what you get. Nothing to grumble about.

It works just like it is advertised. Simple to use, the colour change is easy to make out and I had my result in no time at all. No complaints at all.

An ideal product. I rely on these strips to keep my water balanced and they are quick and simple to use every time.

Super prompt delivery despite the lockdown, and the purchase I received was exactly as described in the listing.

Proved conclusively that ours is a hard water area, which is why the electric shower has been under-performing. Perfectly usable.
Mark T. Holmes-Hunt –
A solid purchase with professional grade performance that copes well with tough jobs, and it is really good value.

Miss Ava MacDonald (verified owner) –
As usual, the products I have bought from this shop are reasonably priced and genuinely fast to arrive. Excellent service.

This larger set was a must have for me. I first bought the regular starter kit, then realised I needed something to get me through the rest of the season. The containers are a decent size and were packaged really well, and I plan on keeping everything in good order through the summer and autumn.
Miss Isaac Z. Edwards (verified owner) –
Excellent strips that work perfectly, really easy to use and the colour change is clearly readable every time.
Mr Jas Sinclair –
I have just received the goods and have not tested them yet. Hopefully they will work, thanks. I will buy a second time if they are reliable.

Happy with this, it is far more convenient than what I was using before and takes no effort at all to get a result. Very good value.
Mrs Isabella M. Holmes (verified owner) –
Good to have for testing water from a RODI unit. I picked this up at my local shop as I needed something fast to test the fresh water coming out of my unit. For a the colour chart test it works pretty well and was near enough spot on with my digital tester, which read 0.101 while this kit read between 0.07 and 0.1. My only complaint is that the 15 ml syringe cracked the first time I tried to draw water in, as the plunger seems bigger than the tube. Thankfully I had others on hand so it was not a big deal, but it is something they could look into.
Miss Evie Phillips –
A great purchase, the performance is professional and consistently perfectly good. Highly recommended.
Miss Darren E. Boyle –

Mr Rowena Das (verified owner) –
A quick and easy way to gauge a critical water quality condition. I love these test strips because they measure perhaps the most deadly element in the hobby in a simple way. My only criticism, and this is on me rather than on the strips or the shop, is that I find them harder to read now than I did ten years ago. With my eyesight, the subtle differences on the colour chart sometimes give me trouble, usually when trying to tell a straight zero from something around the halfway mark. I am confident that if there was a serious ammonia problem, and anything above zero needs attention, the colour would tell me, as the green gets more intense. Plenty of light and a white backdrop help with reading the outcome as well.
Miss Cian Gray –
I used these for hard water testing. I tried one at a house where I knew the softener was working and the test responded correctly, then I used a strip at home and it showed genuinely hard water, so it works. No complaints at all.

Harvey B. O’Brien –
Very easy to use and reasonably priced, so these strips have been a good buy for me and I would happily get them a second time.
Mia Hill –
A decent kit, although I am still looking for one that is not too hard to read. My last one was clearly readable for zero phosphate and sort of clear for some phosphate. This one is yellow, or yellower, at the low end, and higher readings do turn green, which is better than the others that just go a darker shade of blue as the level increases.
Alex X. O’Brien-Hawkins (verified owner) –
Really impressed, they are reliable and the performance is brilliant. I would happily buy them again.
Mr Bethany Gupta –

Definitely the best strips. They are easy to make out and you understand exactly what you need to do for your tub. Would buy again.
Ms Simon Harrison (verified owner) –
Accurate for testing hardness. I used these to check that my water softener was working and it was easy and consistent. No complaints at all.
Dr Teddy Iyer (verified owner) –
Everything you need to test your water.
We have moved to an area with very hard water recently. I wanted to see if my water filter was doing anything, so picked these tests strips.
You get a bottle of 100 strips, (giving 16 readings) a pipette and vial to put the collected sample in, so you can then pop the strip in to do the test. The vial isn’t quite tall enough for the strip, so you need to push it down a bit to get the whole strip emersed in the water.
I’m happy that they do what they are supposed to. I have tested various water in my house, from straight out the tap, filter, pet filter water fountain, and shower filters to see if they are working.
I’m finding them very useful and think they are good value for money.

H. O. Campbell (verified owner) –
Decent value. With the price of the reagents I was using going up, I tried the kit instead, and it is much easier to test with as there is no powder to deal with. I tested on three separate occasions and both kits came close to the same results, though the older one gave a slightly more definite answer. It comes down to how hard you chase numbers, and in my opinion this one is better value.
Mr Theo Haque –
A great product at a great price. I have bought other test strips which were not easy to read, but these work.

They are great for getting some quick and easy results, and I usually follow up any irregularities from the strip test with a liquid test. These seem quite consistent and the results usually agree with the liquid tests, apart from one of the readings, which always seems to come out a little higher. They are so easy to use, just swirl the strip a couple of times and then read the results. Great for a quick weekly check.

Miss Benjamin Malik (verified owner) –
We have had problems with our water quality in the past – we just knew it tasted awful, but af first were told that just the chlorine added and it is fine. Then, during their routine testing, back then carried out every few months, they discovered there was a problem and we were told not to drink the water for about a month and were told to get some tests that were arranged for us and we will have to for the rest of our lives as some things take years to show the damage they have done. Since testing strips have become available, I test daily, but until these test strips appeared, I could only test at home for a few things; but these give you a wide spectrum of contaminants or let you know that anything that should be in your water is above acceptable levels. Very reassuring and I will be using these daily from now on.
Mrs Martin Kennedy (verified owner) –
It works excellent. This is ideal for measuring marine parameters and it is a genuinely accurate test kit.

A great product and easy to use. The colour guide is honestly easy to follow.

Mr Amrit Malik –

These test strips are fairly accurate when testing the water. Occasionally one or more of the pads doesn’t show a proper colour, which means using an extra strip. Otherwise, they work well.
Mrs Manpreet Chowdhury (verified owner) –
Just what we needed and exactly just as described, all with a long shelf life, which is excellent. Delivered quickly too.
Mr James Kaur (verified owner) –
Elegant shade rendering and a scale in steps of 0.2, and I really like being able to check the phosphate level two or three times a week so I can top it back up and keep the nitrates where I want them. The colours are far better than the other phosphate test I own. I tested both at the same time and the other one was less accurate, with a scale spread too widely in steps of 0.5 ppm. The set includes a little spoon for the powder, but remember to use the smaller end for scooping. The glass containers are the same quality as the other kit, but the caps are far better because there is no aluminium backed paper that peels apart, just a fairly firm foam insert that does not come apart in the stopper. I am not sure it shows in the photos, but with the naked eye the difference is obvious.
Mr Dev MacLeod (verified owner) –
Exactly just as described and they do the job well. Simple to use and the colour change is easy enough to read. It does the job.

It cost a little more than the other big online seller, however I needed this quicker than they could manage. I need it for measuring the dilution of the bleach I have been using for cleaning. I have been using one solution for everyday food customer service level sanitation, and another stronger one for cleaning the bathroom and toilet at home.

Lots of tests. I felt like a scientist using this laboratory the quality kit. A typical home kit usually contains only one or two tests, whereas this bottle has no frills but loads of tests to share with all your neighbours. It looks like something straight out of a lab. I decided to get these water test strips to check my tap water as I’ve started to get into winemaking and was curious about the my water quality.
These strips work perfectly. The process is very simple. You just dip a strip for a couple of seconds, shake it off, wait 30 seconds and then hold it horizontally next to the colour chart printed right on the bottle. The chart is straightforward and everything lines up clearly so it’s easy to match the colours and understand the results.
I’m relieved to confirm there’s nothing harmful in my water. I was, however, surprised by the pH level and how hard the water actually is, which is very useful information for my brewing. It’s very reassuring to know exactly what’s in your water. I would certainly recommend these strips and feel they are well worth the price.

Dr Kevin Byrne (verified owner) –
Very easy to use, with lots of test strips.
My concern was to test for lead in our water which two tests confirmed as zero, whilst confirming we have very hard water.
also tested water after being in the water filter and the filter seems to be doing its job reducing the hardness significantly.
my only gripe is it would be good to have something to tell me what these things 16 things are that it tests and what their impact is. Even if it was just a QR code to a website. But yep i can google it and for the price im not too bothered about that.

Miss Musa Davies (verified owner) –
A good product, although slightly clearer instructions would help. It works perfectly fine and there is a sudden colour change, but as a first time user it would have been helpful if the instructions had said that the change was from pink to blue. The first couple of drops took it from clear to pink, which is also a colour change but not the one I was looking for.
Iain Thomas-Hussain (verified owner) –
It all comes in a very nice plastic container that you can keep it all in, and it looks a lot better quality than the last one I bought, which only lasted a couple of years before the colour faded. This one cost more, so I hope it lasts a good deal longer.

Neha B. Kelly –
Better safe than sorry. When you are stripping back sixty odd years of wall coverings in an old house and you find yourself looking at the original paint, it is probably a good idea to check for lead before you go any further. I am very glad I did, and also very glad I checked the mid century bench seat I was planning to sand down and repaint. This little kit was simple to use on both horizontal and vertical surfaces and gave a clear reading. I was not surprised that the wall paint contained lead given the age of the building, but I am very glad I checked the bench as well. It has saved me from sanding lead paint and for that reason I am very thankful I purchased it.
Mrs Muhammad Jones –

I have used these strips for years by using the dilution method, and they give a reasonable ballpark estimate of the concentration, though not quite to my satisfaction.
