Description
Glutaraldehyde is a highly effective, low toxicity disinfectant able to destroy bacterial propagules, spores and other pathogenic microorganisms, and its working strength needs to be confirmed before use. These Deep Blue glutaraldehyde test strips read six levels within the 0.5% to 3% range, providing a reliable on-the-spot concentration check.
Immerse the strip so the pad is fully covered, shake away the excess liquid, then compare it with the printed chart after two minutes. No lab work, titration kit or specialist training is required.
Every Deep Blue water testing product is made to a high standard and colour matched for dependable, repeatable results, with our strip range relied on by pool professionals, holiday let operators and keen home users nationwide.
Reseal the tube promptly after removing a strip and store away from heat, light and moisture to preserve accuracy.
How to Use
- Remove one test strip from the barrel.
- Dip the strip into the solution, keeping the pad completely immersed for 2 to 3 seconds.
- Remove the strip and shake off any excess liquid.
- Compare the test pad against the colour chart after 2 minutes.

Usman Davies –
A fast and easy way to gauge a critical water quality condition. I love these test strips because they measure perhaps the most deadly element in the hobby in a simple way. My only criticism, and this is on me rather than on the strips or the shop, is that I find them harder to read now than I did ten years ago. With my eyesight, the subtle differences on the colour chart sometimes give me trouble, usually when trying to tell a straight zero from something around the halfway mark. I am confident that if there was a serious ammonia problem, and anything above zero needs attention, the colour would tell me, as the green gets more intense. Plenty of light and a white backdrop help with reading the results as well.

This has everything you need to start looking after the water. You use the test strips to check the levels and then add what is needed to bring them back to where they should be. In the long run I found a different routine easier, but this is a decent way to start.

A great starter kit for a new owner. The chlorine takes a little messing about with to work out the quantity to water ratio, as we needed less than the packaging indicated, so there was some trial and error to get the level correct. After the initial dose it has been really easy to check the levels with the strips and then top up. Spot on.

A replacement for my previous kit, which was simple to use, so I was happy to order the same again.

Decent value. With the price of the reagents I was using going up, I tried this kit instead, and it is much easier to test with as there is no powder to deal with. It comes down to how hard you chase numbers, and in my opinion this one is better value.

Mr Jaspreet Jackson –
Very happy with my purchase, thank you very much. The strips are simple to use and arrived without any fuss.

G. Y. Gupta (verified owner) –

Huda Allen-Martin –
A solid kit with professional level performance and great value for the money.
Mrs Katherine Gupta (verified owner) –
It is perfectly reliable for a fast check and I have compared it against liquid tests. It does fall short on some of the other readings though. For anyone who just wants a simple check it is fine, but for more demanding measurements liquid tests are the only way.
Dr Gavin V. Bailey –
Great product and really simple to use. A tip, cut them up the middle and you get twice as many.
Mr Finn Taylor –
Better safe than sorry. When you are stripping back sixty odd years of wall coverings in an old house and you find yourself looking at the original paint, it is probably a decent idea to check for lead before you go any further. I am very glad I did, and also very glad I checked the mid century bench seat I was planning to sand down and repaint. This little kit was simple to use on both horizontal and vertical surfaces and gave a clear reading. I was not surprised that the wall paint contained lead given the age of the building, but I am very glad I checked the bench as well. It has saved me from sanding lead paint and for that reason I am very thankful I bought it.
Mr Maisie I. Ahmed (verified owner) –
Excellent, I would happily buy these again as they are straightforward to use and do exactly what I need.

A great choice, the service was professional and the measurements are clear and precise. I will order again.
Kavya Henderson –
Perfect. Very decent indeed, simple to use and it gives a clear result quickly, so no complaints from me.
Sarah Hall –
They are great for getting some quick and easy results, and I usually follow up any irregularities from the strip test with a liquid test. These seem quite accurate and the results usually agree with the liquid tests, apart from one of the readings, which always seems to come out a little higher. They are so simple to use, just swirl the strip a couple of times and then read the results. Great for a quick weekly check.
Finlay L. Martin –
These do exactly what they need to, they are fast to use and easy to read, so I have no complaints.
Mr Maisie B. Cook (verified owner) –
I use these a lot and cannot fault the quality. They are consistent and straightforward to read.
Mr Neha C. Haque (verified owner) –
Overall I am happy with my recent purchase. The staff, as always, were a pleasure to deal with and I was able to get the item I was after. I was going to pick up a few other bits at the same time but found them far too expensive, so I gave those a miss.

Edward A. Uddin –
I asked the seller if my order could be shipped out fast and it arrived after only a couple of days, so thank you very much for the fast service.
Jai Armstrong –
As the item was out of stock, after a phone call and with my agreement the seller sent me an alternative, which does not tell you whether the reading you have taken is correct or not, so you have to rely on your own experience. All the same, the test works fine for me.
Jamie X. Clarke –
It does exactly what it says on the bottle, and it does it fast.
Ms G. E. Thomas-Gallagher –
A decent kit, although I am still looking for one that is not too hard to read. My last one was clear for zero phosphate and sort of clear for some phosphate. This one is yellow, or yellower, at the low end, and higher readings do turn green, which is better than the others that just go a darker shade of blue as the level increases.
Dr Brodie Ross (verified owner) –
Very good for effectiveness and quality. It is simple to use and works well, although once the time is up you need to read it straight away, because the colour carries on changing if you leave it. Good service from the seller too.
Mr R. I. McKenzie (verified owner) –
Good to have for testing water from a RODI unit. I picked this up at my local shop as I needed something fast to test the fresh water coming out of my unit. For a colour chart test it works pretty well and was near enough spot on with my digital tester, which read 0.101 while this kit read between 0.07 and 0.1. My only complaint is that the 15 ml syringe cracked the first time I tried to draw water in, as the plunger seems bigger than the tube. Thankfully I had others on hand so it was not a big deal, but it is something they could look into.
Ms Hamish K. Richards –
Better than the well known branded ones. I decided to try these test sticks as I found my usual ones were not giving the readings I expected, and to my delight they were better and more reliable, and much more competitively priced too.
H. D. Lloyd (verified owner) –
I love these strips. Great value and simple to use. I have tried another make which always seemed to give false readings.
Dr Fraser Johnson –
A great test kit that is really simple to use, everything is clearly laid out and the result is simple to read.
A. C. Mitchell –
The quality has been there for years. The test is top notch and easy to carry out in about ten minutes.

Mr Niamh Wilson (verified owner) –
Although I have not used it yet, I have no doubt it will do the job for us, as we have bought them before and they are really helpful to have.
Dr Molly Macleod (verified owner) –
Easy and quick to use. I have been having a problem with the water, so I test it regularly, and it is excellent to be able to check quickly for problems as they arise.
Ms Amrit McKenzie (verified owner) –
Pretty reliable and it does exactly what it is supposed to do, with no fuss at all.
Harrison W. Pearson (verified owner) –
As far as testing strips go, these are far more reliable than any other strip out there. They are the next best thing to a liquid test.
Dr Theo Gill (verified owner) –
I would buy this item again. The ordering service and delivery were surprisingly efficient and prompt, and the product works as presented, though it is somewhat difficult to read at lower concentrations. I expected that, as these are a low concentration version of strips that only measure at higher levels.
Niamh Turner –
Very decent testing strips. They are simple to use and the result is clear and quick, so I am very happy with them.
Miss Zachary Howard (verified owner) –
The product is always decent and I use them all the time. Simple to use, and they give me a clear result every time.
Ms Katie Clark –
Easy to understand and use, the instructions are clear and the colour change is straightforward to read off.
Y. V. Mason –
It does the job perfectly with no issues in the reading, and at a great price.
Dr Douglas K. MacLeod (verified owner) –
Works as advertised. These little strips are simple to use and the instructions break down three different tests. It tests for pH, chlorine I think, and water hardness, and each one has different colours based on where it should be. The item did take longer than originally quoted to arrive, but all in all I am happy with my purchase.
Ms Jack Ahmed –
I have used other strips that are easier to read, but these do the job and I am satisfied with the item.

Mr Grant B. Iqbal (verified owner) –
An excellent product. This was a great purchase and I would definitely recommend it.
Sebastian Thompson –
Proper professional grade stuff, simple to use and it arrived well packed with no leaks.
Skye Henderson (verified owner) –
You have to quickly tap the water off and lay the strip flat, otherwise the colours bleed, but otherwise they are excellent.
Alice Q. Cameron-Parker (verified owner) –
An indispensable item. Chlorine dioxide is a wonderful disinfectant, but if you know the first thing about it you know that its concentration in solution wanes rather rapidly. I keep a little bottle handy, and the question is always how to know whether it needs replacing. These strips give you an instant answer.
Louise R. Cole (verified owner) –
A decent product at a fair price. Always in stock and easy to find.
Aisha Boyle-Bailey (verified owner) –
A quick check that is decent enough for me to keep my water healthy, and it takes hardly any time at all.
Ms Rachel Gill-Bishop –
Good accuracy and simple to use. The instructions are clear and the reading is simple to take, so I am very happy with it.
Mr Kieran Holmes –
So simple to use. I am really glad I bought this one rather than any of the other brands on the market, and I would happily buy from here again.
Ms Ciara G. Kapoor –

Outstanding customer service, this is the only place to use when buying treatments for water control.
Dr Finn Fraser –
I loved these. I like that they let me gauge where I am and work out what I need to do to reach the readings I wanted.
Dr Manpreet Hamilton –
I love how straightforward these are to use. They save a lot of time when you have children around, compared with the chemical ones.
Mr Theo Chandra (verified owner) –
Easy to use test strips, although they could do with more information on what corrective action might be needed. It does the job.
Miss Amina V. Morgan-Cooper –
A fast and efficient way of making sure everything is at the right level, and it is very simple to use.
Olivia Williams –
Great item, thank you. Easy to use and the result comes through quickly and clearly.
Tom Morgan –
I have used these strips for years by using the dilution method, and they give a reasonable ballpark estimate of the concentration, though not quite to my satisfaction. It would be really useful if there were strips that could read stronger concentrations directly without having to resort to diluting the sample first.
Mr Alexander P. Brar (verified owner) –
It does what it says on the tin. Simple and simple to use, and good value for money.

Reuben Hunt –
They work excellent and are exactly what I was looking for, simple to use and easy to read.

Evelyn Graham –
They do the job, but I hope that in future they will come in the packaging that is not made of plastic.
Miss Logan Smith (verified owner) –
A great product and simple to use. If you are using it for the first time alongside water treatments, I would run the treatment for a couple of days first, then put the jets on to move it around, switch off after a few seconds and then dip your test in the water. The colour guide is really easy to follow.
X. X. White –
I would buy it again. Great item and it works exactly as described, simple to use and easy to read.

Ms Mia Y. Reddy-Gibson (verified owner) –
It does exactly as it says, and it is really easy to use.
Dr Connor M. Griffiths –
Having soft water, I found it hard work getting the levels right on their own. This comes in a large container and a spoonful every few days keeps things exactly where they should be. It should last a long time, so it is an economical purchase, and it is useful having the test strips included as well.
Sara Lawrence (verified owner) –
Easy to use and easy to make out, and it does everything I need it to do without any fuss.

I have just started using this and it has already taken the greenish tinge out of the water. I’m told regular use will save me having to empty and refill so often, which in this day and age will save me a fortune.

I purchased these and another branded version at the same time, and I much prefer these. They are my go to now.

Easy to use, you just dip and read, and the colour change is clear enough to match up fast.

Florence Sharma –
It is fine, but I have to ask my wife to judge the shades of shade as she is far more sensitive to them. The average bloke will struggle a bit with it.
Ms Joseph Shaw (verified owner) –
Fairly simple to use and accurate. It is similar to the other tests in the range, but I usually double up on the reagent and the test sample to get a more discernible result, especially when testing phosphates at the lower end of the scale. The only thing better and more reliable would be an electronic phosphate meter, but that costs a fair bit more.
Hassan L. Hussain (verified owner) –
It cost a little more than the other big online seller, however I needed this quicker than they could manage. I need it for measuring the dilution of the bleach I use for cleaning. I use one solution for everyday food customer service level sanitation, and another stronger one for cleaning the bathroom and toilet at home.
Damian Marshall (verified owner) –
Perfect test strips. I have now decided to only ever buy from this seller, as having tried a few other suppliers I think it is best to stick with the experts. Fast and accurate the delivery, and maybe not the cheapest but certainly the best.

Miss Tariq Bennett (verified owner) –
A reliable test of water quality, and it is very fast and easy to do.
Sienna S. Walsh –
Lots of tests. I felt like a scientist using this laboratory build quality kit. A typical home kit usually contains only one or two tests, whereas this bottle has no frills but plenty of tests to share with all your neighbours. It looks like something straight out of a lab. They do expire, but there is plenty of time to test through winter and spring. We tested our bottled water, our tap water and our reverse osmosis filter.
Miss Hassan Walker-Campbell (verified owner) –
The seller responded really fast and the whole order was dealt with fast. I could not ask for better service.
Dr Jessica Walker (verified owner) –
A little on the expensive side, but it was easier to order everything together and they work well.
Yusuf Y. Williams –
This hardness test kit worked brilliantly. I live in an area where the water is a little hard and I have a softener installed, but I did not know how to set the reflush cycle. Using the kit I could see that the hardness was 400ppm before cleaning the softener and 60ppm afterwards, so I am really satisfied. I will also be able to use it now and then to watch the water getting harder and know when to recharge the softener.
Miss Anaya W. Gill –
An excellent product, and very useful for seeing how to sort the water out properly.
Alex F. Malik –
A great product. Simple to use, clear results and good value for the money.

Mrs Khadija Webb –
Great service and very fast to post out. The strips themselves are simple to use and I am pleased with them.
Mrs Grace Kapoor (verified owner) –
These are so much easier to use than the other ones I have tried. I was going to go digital if I could not find something decent and easy to make out, but I can confirm I will be ordering more of these from now on.
Ibrahim E. Gibson –
An easy and accurate test kit. It takes no time at all to run a test and the result is straightforward to read off.

Nice quality and really suitable for what I needed. It looks exactly the same as the picture, so I am happy with it.
Joshua Thomas-Begum (verified owner) –
A decent product, although slightly clearer instructions would help. It works fine and there is a sudden colour change, but as a first time user it would have been helpful if the instructions had said that the change was from pink to blue. The first couple of drops took it from clear to pink, which is also a colour change but not the one I was looking for.

These dip tests are decent quality compared with the cheap ones you buy off the marketplace sites, and they are simple to use.
Zara Chowdhury (verified owner) –
This test is so simple and the results come through immediately. The problem I have is that my phosphates are really low, possibly zero, and when you are in the low range it is very difficult to read. I am debating whether to buy another, as I am almost out, and whether to send a sample away for professional testing so I can tell if I have any phosphates at all and then judge the readings on this test better. I am also wondering about a more expensive electronic checker, but I know I would not like the fiddly powder reagents. I only have about two tests left, so time matters and I need to know whether to keep dosing. I should have sent one off sooner, because I do like this test a lot.
Sarah B. King-Hughes –

Mr Alexander R. MacLeod (verified owner) –

Dr Ella McDonald (verified owner) –

Khalid Richards –
Thank you very much, it is excellent. I am never disappointed ordering from this seller and the service is great as well. Thanks again.
Miss Muhammad Clarke –
A nice test kit and one of the quickest out there to use. Just to comment on the previous rating, the results are meant to be read between 5 and 30 seconds according to the instructions. Always calibrate any test kit with a known sample in solution to confirm its readings. That even applies to really expensive high end kits.
